I hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends. Every day, I cannot believe how much I have to be thankful for in my life.. 🙏🏻🥰

I am incredibly excited to welcome the stunning 5

I am incredibly excited to welcome the stunning 5 year old “Top Gun”, registered named “Orion W” (Toto Jr. x Vivaldi) to the Zen Elite family! 🤩 This special youngster has so much power and presence and I can’t wait for our journey together to begin! Thank you Heidi and @zeneliteequestriancenter for the chance to develop this super young talent! 🙏🏻😍 Thank you Ad Valk and @michaknol for making this match!
(And yes, this is a different horse than our wonderful “Hussmann’s Top Gun”, who is now 8 years old and doing great… I guess I have a type! 😂)

Fall is my favorite time of year with the horses… ☀️ 🍁 Not only because of the beautiful weather but because it’s a time to get to relax and reflect upon everything that the horses accomplished this year and start to get excited about what the future holds. All of our major championships are done for the year and we can now focus on the fun of introducing some new work and moving the young horses up to the next level, as well as continually striving to improve and grow our partnerships with our Grand Prix horses. I am always extra thankful for these wonderful horses and
people that make up our very special barn family. 🥰

We had a super week at the 2024 USEF Festival of C

We had a super week at the 2024 USEF Festival of Champions! 🤩 I am continually impressed by Zaunkonig and his amazing performances, and most importantly his great character. He put in a super test today, to earn an 87% and secure the title of 2024 USEF National Champion 6 year old! 🙌 He has taken everything in stride in our first long distance show away from home, and he is just the happiest traveler, competitor and partner! 🥰 Thank you Heidi and everyone at Zen Elite Equestrian center for your incredible support and for allowing me to develop this special young stallion! 🙏🏻 Thank you Nicole for your excellent care of this special boy, and Katie Duerrhammer for doing such a great job riding him while I was in Europe this summer. I feel so fortunate to have such a super team! 💪🏼 And a big congratulations to Christian Simonson for having an amazing week and securing the title of National Brentina Cup champion!! 🥳 This is extra special for me, having the award named after my long time coach, Debbie McDonald’s special mount, having won it myself in 2008, having my student Quinn Iverson win it the past two years, and now passing the torch to our third generation of Brentina Cup champion in our barn! 💪🏼 🇺🇸 I could not be more proud of the hard work that Christian, and all my students, put into this sport. It is so awesome to see them developing into such great riders and horse people. 🥹👏🏼

What an amazing day! 🤩 Helix was incredible, giving me a super feel of enthusiasm and confidence from the minute I got on today. He was so focused and so eager to work in the warmup… 🥰 At first the incredible energy and electric environment of the stadium really took him by surprise and he got incredibly hot but as the test progressed he settled and focused and delivered an error-free test. To feel the trust he has given in just a few short months together is really incredible. ❤️ I am eternally thankful to Heidi and the Zen Elite team for giving me the opportunity to chase our dreams with this special horse. 🙏🏻 We knew it was a crazy dream to shoot for the Olympics this year but her support made us all feel like anything could be possible. And an incredible thank you to my amazing coach, Debbie McDonald, who has been my mentor for nearly 20 years now!!! 🤯 I am so thankful for your guidance, support and friendship! And to my amazing super groom, Marina Lemay… there aren’t enough words to express how lucky we are to have you!! This wouldn’t be possible without you! To everyone in our team of vets, farriers, and everyone in our village who helped get us here, THANK YOU!!!🙏🏻

We wrapped up a super week with another good finish in the Grand Prix Special, just under 72%. 🤩 I am very proud of Helix and how he handled everything at our first European show together. He is horse that always tries so hard and I look forward to what he is capable of as he continues to gain strength and confidence! And to top off a fun week, I got to meet Helix’s breeder and they were able to come say hi to their special boy!🥰💪🏼 A massive thank you to Heidi and @zeneliteequestriancenter for making this journey possible! 🤩 And to Debbie for her incredible commitment to coaching and being willing to spend one more summer here in Europe with me and the horses!🙏🏻 And a huge thank you to @marina.lemay for the endless hours she puts into providing the absolute best care for Helix and Lars! So proud of Helix, finishing in the ribbons in our first European show together! 😍 After two long days of grand prix he ended up 5th out of nearly 50 Grand Prix competitors! 🤩🙌 Tomorrow the top 15 combinations will ride the Grand Prix Special. 💪🏼

Day 1 of competition done here at the Hagen CDI. Very proud of Helix for sitting in 3rd place after 40 grand prix rides today! 💪🏼🇺🇸 Many people are asking about Lars, who retired from the competition earlier in the day. I chose to retire Lars because something in his body felt uncomfortable today when I went into the ring. The signs he was giving me may have been subtle for the observer but I could tell something wasn’t quite right so I chose to stop. Our partnership is still very new and I want to be sure he always trusts me and that I don’t push him if he isn’t feeling right. I am very fortunate to have an owner and trainer who think this same way and were fully supportive of the decision. We will of course get him fully checked at make sure he is feeling 100%. In the meantime he gets to rest for the rest of the weekend and cheer on his barn mate, Helix. 🤩 (photo by Petra kerschbaum/eqwo.net)

Way to go Helix! 🤩 What an incredible horse! It’s been just two short months together so far and we are learning a lot about each other each day, but pieces are starting to come together. He is not only super talented but tries so hard, in every ride. 💕 This is only the beginning and we have plenty of work ahead of over the coming months and years… it’s a long journey and step by step we will continue to improve and better ourselves each day. 💪🏼

Developing a relationship with these talented boys

Developing a relationship with these talented boys over the past month has been so rewarding. 🥰 Not just the riding part, but how they are on the ground.. their likes and dislikes… how we interact and communicate with each other… There is so much for us to learn about each other, but with patience and persistence we are slowly building our partnership. Super day of competition for our team today, with Hussmans TopGun making his show ring debut with me for a 76% at 3rd level 🤩, then Quinn and King’s Pleasure laying down a phenomenal CDI PSG debut ride for a 3rd place finish on a 71.5%, and Christian and Son of a Lady piloting through their first Young Rider Grand Prix test for a win! 🙌 Thank you to Heidi for giving us to chance to work with such amazing horses! 🥰 And a huge thank you to our INCREDIBLE team of grooms for keeping everything running like a well oiled machine! 💪🏼 Marie, Marina, Nicole, and Kendra… you guys are just amazing!! 🙏🏻
